Studies Organisation and Examinations

The dual course takes three years to finish. The theoretical part is taught in full time form at the College of Cooperative Education Melle for 12 weeks per term. Studies and training alway start on 1. August. The College Melle admits a maximum of 24 students per year. They are instructed by lecturers from universities in Osnabrück, Bielefeld and Hamburg, by employees from different enterprises, by management consultants and by teachers from vocational schools. Thus the curriculum is constantly updated to the latest scientific and practise-oriented levels.

After 4 terms the wood apprentices`final examinations are taken. Furthermore the students also have the oppotunity of passing the following tests: instructor aptitude test and REFA examiation (time and motion studies).

The officially recognized title of "Ingenieur Holztechnik (BA)" (Wood Technology Engineer) is awarded after successfully finishing the final examinations and thesis.

After 6 terms, in cooperation with the College of Cooperative Education Sachsen (Berufsakademie Sachsen), it is possible to study (job-accompanying) in Dresden for one additional term to obtain the title "Diplom-Ingenieur Holztechnik". Furthermore it is also possible to study in Dresden for at least another 4 terms at the TU and thus obtaining an university degree.
